More Sayings

More Sayings Again

1. It must be election season. I heard the kids talking in the back of the car about Rock Bomma and John McBain. They had nice things to say about both them. "If you need help call Rock Bomm or John McBain". I think we had the TV on too much when he we pulled it out of the closet for the olympics.

2. Emma: "I need to go to school with Elias so I can help him."

3. Emma: "Can I have a lollipop, just in case."

Mom: Just in case of what?

Emma: Oh, I mean just because.

4. Emma doesn't really understand the difference between a video and a TV show. Case in point.

Emma: I'm going to turn off this TV show so I can save it for when Elias comes home from school. He really likes this one.

5. Brook: Mommy

This does not refer to her loving nurturing parent. It means "I want" and she uses it with myself, Alex and Emma. With Elias it's lala.

More Sayings

A Rainbow of Conversations.
Some revealing some interesting heart attitudes

1. This conversation began at the grocery store

Elias: Why are you buying those?

Mom: We are going to have carrots with our lunch.

Elias: So I'll be strong enough to wrestle Dad?

Mom: Um, yeah

(After coming home and eating lunch Dad and Elias were wrestling with Dad obviously winning)

Dad: What happened I thought you ate your carrots?

Elias: Yeah, but they came out of my tummy when I went poop

2. I've often heard this since Emma's birthday

Emma: That was a long time ago, back when I was 3

(most recently)

Emma: I won't cry when I get shots anymore because I'm four now. I only cried back when I was young.

3. This happened the other night when I left the kids at a friends house. Her husband and teenage daughter watched all the kids while we had a Mom's meeting for Elias's school.

husband: sat down on the couch to read a book

Emma: climbed up on the couch onto his lap straddling him. She put both hands on his face making him look directly at her and told him "I was talking to you."

(I was so glad this story was relayed to my husband the next day at work and not to me.)

4. As we passes a man on the street I had this conversation with my eldest child. Unfortunaly the man only heard the first sentence and kept on walking.

Elias: That person is strange.

Mom: Elias, that is not kind. Why would you say that?

Elias: Do we know him? Isn't he a stranger?

(Now I ask you, how do explain the fact that someone can be a stranger and not be strange?)

This is the Picture

Last night at Awana it was bring your mommy to Cubbies night. It was fun having Emma sit on my lap and finally understand all the songs and stories she was coming home with. During the story time the teacher was using a powerpoint presentation to show all the things you do with your mommy. One of the things he mentioned was prayer and this is the picture he showed. Emma yelled out the first thing that came to her mind, "She's naked." Everyone laughed and the teacher tried to recover saying that she was praying in the bathtub. By then my face was already red and I was trying to give a quick lesson to my daughter that we don't shout out things during lesson time. A lesson I'm sure to repeat because after all she is my daughter. But what was the teacher thinking? I googled "girl praying", which is where I found this exact image he used. There were tons of other pictures he could have used. And I'm sure tonight during baths my 4 year old will question why we don't pray in the bathtub. Maybe we should, but I'm sure we won't be taking any pictures of it.

And More Sayings

More Sayings - all from Elias today

1.

Mom: Elias, you have been obeying Mommy really well today. Thank you for all the chores you got done.

Elias: Tell me more.

2.

As we drive to church we pass Alex's old job. The kids's always shout when they spot it. Recently we commented to them that dad doesn't work there anymore. It's been over two months and they hadn't realized Dad wasn't going to work. But anyways... Here's a conglomeration of conversations that took place on our way to church.

Elias: There's the place where Dad use to work. Do people still work there?

Dad: Yes

Elias: Where are you going to work next?

Dad: We don't know. God hasn't told us yet.

Elias: How is God going to tell us where to work? We can't hear him talk.

Dad: We can hear God talk in the Bible.

Elias: When are you going to get another job?

Dad: When God provides one.

Elias: Why hasn't he told us yet? Is he still thinking?

3.
Elias is in the stage of trying to figure out all the family relationships. We are still trying to explain to Elias and Emma that they can't marry each other.

Elias: Is Dad grandma's kid?

Mom: Yes

Elias: Is Dad a kid or a grownup?

More Sayings

My sister told me I should do more sayings blogs. However, they are after all my kids and just not that witty. It takes me a while to collect these sayings. Here's the latest collections.

1. I overheard this conversation while Emma was playing with a couple of dolls and role playing with them.

Emma: I hate you.

Mom: Don't talk about hating people even if we are just playing.

Emma: (resumes playing) I want you to go away.

2. This conversation took place a few days after ear infections and strep throats hit our household.

Emma: Why does it keep raining?

Mom: Because it's a rainy day. (not the most scientific answer, but it's all I could think of)

Elias: Sometimes we have rainy days and sometimes we have crying days.

Mom: What is a crying day?

Elias: It's when all the kids cry alot. (duh)

3. Only in warm Californis does this confusion occur

Mom: Wear the other jacket this one is too heavy.

Elias: Am I not strong enough for this one?
